“Perfect Mower For a Smaller Lawn“

I have to say that mowing the lawn is one of those jobs I always try and put off for as long as I can before I actually tackle it. But with that said once I actually get started I really quite enjoy it.

It does all depend on what mower you have though, because the difference between the best of the bunch and the worst can be quite a bit.

For my money the Black and Decker LM175 might be worth a look if you’re after an electric mower that performs and delivers exactly what you want it to.

For a start it’s pretty light, coming in at around thirty five pounds in weight. That’s not bad at all, especially if your lawn is like mine and has its distinctive lumps and bumps here and there. The lighter your mower is, the easier it will be to tackle imperfect lawns with!

So with that in mind let’s take a closer look at this LM175 model to see what it has to offer us.

Nice long cord.

This is an absolute must if you are going to get an electric mower. If you don’t have a long cord you will end up having to mess about with extension leads. Unless you have an impressively long garden you’ll be just fine with the Black and Decker LM175 because the lead is 100 feet long.

A cutting path of 18 inches.

You may not think the cutting path is that important, but you’d be wrong. Eighteen inches is plenty wide enough to cut down on the work of cutting your lawn, without making it awkward to get your lawn mower into those tighter spots. You’ll enjoy a nice quick cutting experience with no worries at all.

6.5 amp motor on board.

Let’s be honest, this mower is designed more for the small lawn that the 100 feet lead will reach to, which means the 6.5 amp motor will be just fine. But if you have a larger garden it may not quite be ample enough for your needs. With that said though, if you possess a small garden and you want a cost effective mower that will last and give a great performance all round, this one will seal the deal.

One lever adjustment on the height.

You may know that the first grass cutting of the year should be a short one. This protects the grass from going into shock from too short a cut on the first pass. Luckily this Black and Decker mower has a simple one lever adjustment that makes it easy to adjust the cutting height anywhere between one inch to three and a half inches. That should give you plenty of options for getting your lawn trimmed to just the right height.

Foldaway handle for easy storage.

We don’t all have huge sheds in our garden that we can pop a lawn mower into for storage. Even if you do you’ll want to ensure it doesn’t take up any more room than necessary. That’s why you’ll love the foldaway handle that comes on the LM175. Just a few quick turns of the screws and you’ll be able to fold down the handle and make the whole thing more compact for storage.

Easy to get started out of the box.

If you’re one of those people who (like me) finds the task of putting stuff together arduous, you’ll love the Black and Decker LM175. It is designed to require very little in work to get it up and running, and you won’t need any tools to do so. Just get it out of the box, check it over, follow the instructions and off you go. Your lawn will be looking better in no time.

Quiet to use.

If you have ever sat in your garden and been frustrated by the amount of noise coming from your neighbor’s mower, you can understand how annoying it can be sometimes. Luckily this Black and Decker model will keep you and your neighbors happy since it is very quiet indeed. Since it doesn’t operate on gas it is a lot quieter than its noisier counterpart.

Easy to get going.

I mentioned the fact that it’s simple to get out of the box and ready to go already. But it’s also easy to get going in the sense that it has a simple lever on the handle, right where you will have your hands when you are using the Black and Decker LM175 mower. So once you are positioned ready to start, it couldn’t be easier to get the lawn mower off and away.

Any Complaints?

There’s just no getting away with problems of an electrical cord. Some users don’t mind, some find it mildly irritating whilst other find it a right pain. This is simply a ‘feature’ of corded mowers and one,  for the time being anyway, that is here to stay.If you’re after a lawn mower then it’s simply something you’ll have to learn to get used to.

Having said that, all our research only turned up a handful of reviewers who said the found the cord anything above mildly irritating.

The only other complaint voiced was the disappointment in the (optional) mulching bag as it gets in the way if you are cutting up close to a fence or another obstruction. Again, only a handful of users found this a pain and most of them either didn’t attach it or chose to rake the lawn afterwards anyway (usually does a better job than any mower could ever do).

Does It Include a Warranty?

Yes, the LM175  comes with a limited lifetime warranty on the deck plus a 2-year limited warranty on everything else.

Our Verdict

The lm175 is ideally suited for the smaller lawn and for those looking for minimum amount of work when it comes to mowing your lawn. It has clearly been designed to make life easier and also with an eye on how easy it is to store away. Bear in mind, the lm175 doesn’t come with a cord, it simply has a standard 3 prong outlet so you’ll need to purchase your own extension cable.

For the money this particular lawn mower has a lot to offer to the person who needs something small and easy to manage, while still giving exceptional performance.
